Robbie, Bailey and I went fishing today. It was a hot day, and there was no breeze to speak of. Too make matters worse, I was catching all of the fish, and they were BIG FISH!
Well, about 3 hours in it was time for Bailey to hit the shoreline. Evidently, she was a bit anxious, because as soon as the boat hit the bank, she hit the grass. But Robbie had not yet made it out of the boat, so when Bailey jumped, the boat went out and she made it halfway. So here is Bailey, hanging onto the grass with her front paws and digging into the mud with her back, trying to stay out of the lake. Then I see Robbie trying to get out of the boat and push Bailey onto the shore.
Needless to say, BOTH of them ended up in the lake. Not a clean drop into the water, but a slide down the bank, into the muddy water and goose crap that was at the end of the slide.
Now, I am in the boat, laughing my butt off trying to keep the boat from hitting them both. I swing around hard to the left, and the pin that holds the motor on the boat pops out and my hard turn gets harder. So Robbie and Bailey are playing in the goose poop and I am trying to get the motor back in place in the motor mount.
Needless to say, we all managed to get where we needed to be. Robbie and Bailey rinse off, and I get the motor back. I looked at Robbie, who said it was time to go in. Seems wet dog covered in goose crap does not smell very good, and Bailey is sticking to Robbie like glue.
Now you would think that would be the end of this little story. WRONG! I get the boat within about 8 feet of the shoreline, and BOOM, Bailey goes over the side into the lake. Nope, she did not fall off the boat; she was pushed into the water by her loving female master. That’s right; Robbie dumped the dog into the lake. Seems she decided Bailey was not getting into her Jeep in her current condition, and Rob did not feel like getting back into the lake to wash off the stinky dog.
You have to understand that had ANYONE on the planet done this to Bailey, Robbie would have killed them. I was shocked beyond all belief. I was speechless. Bailey was, well, who knows. But she does manage to swim to shore.
All in all done, everyone survives. Bailey gets a bath on the deck and Robbie gets a shower after the fact. I catch all of the fish and Bailey may not get back in the boat. We will see.
More to follow.
